GENERAL INFORMATION
Stone Oak Advisory Committee
Neil Ismert is our neighborhood's volunteer representative on this committee, which is made up of representatives from Stone Oak neighborhoods and meets monthly to discuss issues that affect our neighborhoods and the Stone Oak area. If you have a topic you would like Neil to bring up at a meeting, his phone number is 481-5220 or nismert@sbcglobal.net. Monthly minutes of the committee meetings go out via our neighborhood e-mail network.
NEIL WOULD LIKE TO INFORM the neighborhood that the September date to extend the turning lanes on Stone Oak Pkwy. (south) to Sonterra, and Stone Oak Pkwy. (north) to Huebner, has been rescheduled for October.
Again this year during Oct., BOO!! will be passed around the neighborhood. Especially if you have kids, don't be surprised to find a bag on your door step full of goodies, which is a lot of fun for kids to receive (and give). Instructions included, participation is voluntary (and anonymous to the kids), but if you wish not to participate, please put goodie bag on another neighbor's doorstep. And FYI, parents usually appreciate knowing who has left the bag of goodies. (Sometimes BOO! spills over to our neighboring subdivision, The Estates, & those residents are confused & unaware of the game. FYI, the streets Arrow Hill & west of Twin Arrows border into The Estates at Arrowhead.)
We appreciate the dog owners for picking up after their pets when they are walked in the neighborhood.
We encourage everyone to individually do their share in helping ARROWHEAD come across as a favorable subdivision to live in. Such up-keep and curb appeal helps to attract favorable buyers. Maintained and attractive surroundings benefit resale and helps keep property values comparable and competitive with other subdivisions.
Regarding garbage cans, as we get into our windy months, some neighbors have largely printed their street address on their garbage cans in order to find them if they roll away or if a neighbor wishes to return them to you.
You can access our neighborhood webpage to find planned neighborhood events and local information. Please give us some time, as it is a work in progress. Check out http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/sat/arrow
CALL 311!!!
City Code Compliance can address requests or complaints regarding property, people, and animals in the neighborhood. They will also direct your call concerning overgrown yards, excessive noise, front yard parking, illegal dumping, requesting recycle bin, brush collection, etc.
Congratulations!
To the Frei Family, Burnt Arrow, on the birth of their daughter, Noelle
Sympathies...
Two of our neighbors have recently lost loved ones
THANK YOU
- to Bill Wright with RANGER AMERICAN SECURITY SYSTEMS for copying this newsletter and the Summer Celebration flyers.
- to INDEPENDENCE HILL for allowing us to use their facilities for Bunco and Escape School.
- to Mike Meyer, affiliated with Sunset Memorial Park & Roy Akers Funeral Chapel, for providing the kid's safety program, Escape School.
There's so much we couldn't do without volunteers willing to help when & where they can.

Summer Celebration, Sat. 7/19 Recap
Thanks to all who participated and donated to make our 4th annual event a fun-filled family affair! A total of 86 neighbors attended (50 adults/36 kids). Postponing it a month (we usually celebrate this event the 3rd or 4th Sat in June) may have contributed to this lower turnout. In previous years attendance has been as high as 130+. The 29 families who came out for this event enjoyed BBQ (turkey, beef brisket & sausage) from Mouse?¡?¦s BBQ off Hwy 281, DJ tunes from Larry Bennett (497-7703-Stone-Oak Band member), raffles, water balloon games & Super Slide provided by Antwill Activities, 392-5088.
Summer Celebration Recap (con?¡?¦t)
By neighbors contributing side dishes, items for raffles & baskets, desserts for Cake Walk, condiments, paper goods, monetary donations, supplies, etc., we were able to offset costs charging $5 per Adult & $4 for kids (15 yrs & under). A few of our neighbors (Arrow Glen, Lost Arrow, Straight Arrow, Crooked Arrow) also contributed significant monetary sums towards this event. The Summer Celebration Committee would like to especially thank those volunteers who helped in setting up (tents, tables, etc), supervising the super slide, supplying water balloons, tents, ice, assisting at raffle tables, nail polish booth, tattoo booth, grilling and cleaning up.
Our fundraising efforts brought in a total of $310! (Silent Auction Baskets-$155, Raffle Items-$137, Dessert Walk-$18). Kudos to those ladies listed below who volunteered to organize the baskets. Not only did they work on creating them, they also donated items and helped collect from our neighbors who contributed items for the basket. The raffle items were donated by neighbors (and self-owned businesses). The monies help to support neighborhood ?¡?§Special Events?¡?¨ (Halloween Kick-Off Parade & Easter Egg Hunt) as well as offsetting costs for printing, signs, decorations and supplies used by ?¡?§Arrowhead Connection throughout the year.

DIRECTORY UPDATES
With so many houses on the market this past summer, we delayed our neighborhood directory to include our new neighbors. Please see the attached flyer for information or call Suzanne Meyer, 497-1645.
An up-to-date neighborhood directory is essential for our Neighborhood Watch Program. The information contained in the directory is to be used strictly for Arrowhead residents to contact each other in the case of an emergency, i.e., suspicious activity occurring to a neighbor?¡?¦s property, or ability to contact residents for neighborhood matters. Use for soliciting purposes is not authorized by the neighborhood.
To the few neighbors not in the directory & would like to be included, or if you have changes that need to be made, please contact Suzanne Meyer at 497-1645, and also if anyone has a business or teen service to advertise.
------------------------------------------------
Our neighborhood 4th of July Parade ???˜ was definitely not rained out with 86 adults & kids in attendance (not counting pets). We were glad to see neighbors and firemen enjoying krispy kreme doughnuts after the parade and thank them for the fire safety tips.
HALLOWEEN ALERT - Be aware that last year a few homes (on Flying Arrow & Arrow Glen) that decorated with electric jack-o-lanterns had them stolen.
CRIME AWARENESS FROM JULY ?¡V SEP. QUARTER
Incidents neighbors either called in or e-mailed:
Criminal Mischief:
7/22 Flying Arrow - paint balls thrown at house
8/6 Crooked Arrow & Arrow Glen-neighborhood sign stolen
9/10 Flying Arrow - flowers ripped out of garden
9/17 Arrow Ridge - paint balls thrown at house
Gosh, could these have been the only crime incidents in the neighborhood for the past quarter? I hope so. Thanks to the neighbors for sharing their unfortunate occurrences with us. This information alerts the rest of us of what has taken place and we rely on neighbors sharing their information with us so we know what to watch out for. Names and addresses remain confidential, unless residents want to be mentioned.
If a crime is committed to you or your property, but you prefer the information not to be publicized to the neighborhood, just let us know and we will respect your wishes. Please inform your block captain of the incident so the information can be shared with block captains on other streets. If the incident repeats in the neighborhood then we will know there is an ongoing problem to watch out for.
If you see suspicious activity in the neighborhood, the police want to be called (911 emergency or 311 non-emergency). And if a crime has been committed, the police encourage a police report which will bring about more police coverage in our neighborhood. We want our neighborhood to be known for not putting up with pranks or criminal mischief.
National Night Out
The BLOCK CAPTAINS and I would like to thank the 158 neighbors that came out and mingled with their neighbors for their street?¡?¦s block party. That came down to 57 families - 91 adults, 67 kids. Ten new residents had an opportunity to meet their neighbors and we would like to thank everyone for participating in the raffle. These funds will cover supplies and continue our welcome gifts/packets and other neighborhood events that we provide through the year. ?¡?§NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.?¡?¨
And the Raffle Winners are:
1. Lisa & Danny Zeier on Arrow Glen won the Hyatt 1-nite stay for 2 and breakfast for 2 at Chap?¡?¦s Restaurant

A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR NEIGHBORS THAT CONTRIBUTED THE RAFFLE ITEMS!!! Ricki & John Hartman, Janice Palicte, Lillian Snider, Alisa Travis, Hyatt RiverWalk and Hyatt Hill Country
From our STONE OAK SAFFE OFFICER, Eric Hightower
If you need to contact him, his pager # is 603-9375, cell. # 844-0551, and e-mail dehightower@sanantonio.gov
Officer Hightower sent an e-mail to inform us that the #1 property crime that will affect most of the residents in the North Service area is Burglary to Vehicle or Home. If people would keep garage doors closed and valuables out of sight this would eliminate a majority of this crime. (I would like to remind everyone that in past years the holiday season is when our subdivision has had the majority of cars broken into to get to purses, wallets, items that can be seen in the car, so please be aware.)
Off. Hightower mentions there is a COP Class coming up Oct. 7th and 14th. He says it would be great to get individuals or a group from Arrowhead. Contact Officer CJ James at 207-6086 for more information (or Suzanne Meyer, 497-1645).
Off. Hightower wants you to know they are still able to do Home Security Surveys "free of charge". Call him for an appoint-ment. You will be advised on how you can make your home safer and most insurance companies will give you a discount on your homeowners?¡?¦ insurance.
List Your Family Pet
I receive quite a few calls/e-mails concerning lost pets. Either a neighbor has found one or someone has lost a pet. I would like to continue a list that the block capts. started at Nat?¡?¦l. Nite Out. If you send me your pet?¡?¦s type, description, name and your name, address, phone no., I will add it to our neighborhood pet list. It is helpful if your pet is wearing an I.D. tag so neighbors are able to return pets quicker to their owners.
Thank you to the neighbors on each of our streets who have volunteered to be block captains. This position should rotate periodically to other neighbors. Block Capts. welcome new neighbors, check their street?¡?¦s neighborhood directory information once a year, & coordinate with their block the National Night Out event in August.
If you have a crime committed against you, after notifying the police please inform your block captain. (Block Captains do not get involved in arguments among neighbors.)

If you have questions regarding Arrowhead Connection events, please contact Janice Palicte at 495-2255 or jpalicte@juno.com. Arrowhead Connection was created to provide a way for neighbors to connect & continue to exist with the help of volunteers and contributors.
For questions concerning Neighborhood Watch, contact your block captain or Suzanne Meyer, 497-1645 or SuzaMeyer@aol.com. Arrowhead?¡?¦s Neighborhood Watch Team was formed to encourage residents on each street to get to know their neighbors and to provide safety programs for our families.
