Dental Funding for Seniors
To: Community Agencies
From: Eileen Doherty
Date: January 28, 2004
Re: Dental Funding for Seniors
Senior Answers and Services is pleased to announce the receipt of $200,000 in funding from the Denver Regional Council of Governments and $166,000 in funding from the Colorado Department of Public Health, Oral Health Division to support dental services for low income seniors.
To be eligible for services, seniors need to be over age 60, have income less than $1032 per month for a single person ($1385 for a couple); have less than $4000 in resources ($6,000 for a couple) and be a first time user of dental services through Senior Answers and Services. Individuals may live in any of the following counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder (for Old Age Pensioners only), Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Gilpin, and Jefferson.
Seniors can receive help with exam, x-ray, fillings, extractions, dentures and partials. The program does not pay for fixed bridges, crowns, and root canals. Any dentist licensed to practice in the State of Colorado may perform the services, however, they must agree to accept the state’s fees as payment in full for the approved services.
The program will pay to the dentist 80% of the approved costs. Individuals are responsible for paying to the dentist 20% of the approved costs. A donation to Senior Answers and Services may be made to help defray the costs.
For more information or to have an application sent, call 303-333-3482. Funding for this program is made available through the Older Coloradoans Fund, Denver Regional Council of Governments and the Colorado Department of Public Health, Oral Health Division.
