Rural Training Center-Thailand Spun-off from ESSI
R.E.E.E.P.P. (Rural Environmental Education Enhancement Pilot Program) was the ESSI Thailand Summer 2005 Project. It has grown large enough to be spun-off on its own. The Rural Training Center-Thailand (RTC-TH) will assume full responsibility for REEEPP and the community-based environmental training in Thailand started under ESSI. ESSI will maintain relations with the

REEEPP Principals Phase Out of ESSI
The project principals, Gregory Lee and Saifon Lee have transitioned out of Earth Systems Science, Inc. to devote their full attention to REEEPP and the Rural Training Center-Thailand (RTC-TH). The RTC-TH was dream that emerged from Greg and Saifon’s initial efforts under the Los Angeles Geographical Society’s Thailand Summer 1999 Volunteer project in Ban Tha Ko, Chiang Rai Province. That 2-year effort gave rise to local community efforts informally extending that project until summer 2002. In summer 2004, Greg and Saifon started REEEPP in Ban Na Fa, Nan Province under the ESSI banner and groundwork for realizing the Rural Training Center (RTC) began. This culminated in the summer 2005 project at Ban Na Fa Elementary School and the establishment of the RTC on the ground in Thailand with 8 Thai volunteer staff.

2005 Thai Summer Project Reports Transferred to RTC-TH Site
With the formal spin-off of the RTC-Thailand, (RTC-TH), the original reports of the ESSI Thailand Summer 2005 project have been transferred to the RTC and reformatted to reflect the separation of the two organizations. Cooperative relations still exists between ESSI and the RTC-TH. The reports can be accessed via the hotlinks at the bottom of this page. The reports are listed chronologically with a brief synopsis below:

2005 Situation Report: A brief summary update sent to ESSI Thailand Summer 2005 volunteers from Greg and Saifon (the Advance Team). The report is a status report of the REEEPP effort at Ban Na Fa covering Green School, Habitat, and NASA CERES S’COOL activities from summer 2004 to date.

2005 Field Report #2: A report to the ESSI Thailand Summer 2005 volunteers about the local project coordination, tentative daily routine and local environmental issues.

2005 Field Report #3: The Faces of REEEPP presents the photos and names of persons involved in the summer effort: Head Villager; Ban Na Fa Elementary School personnel; ESSI RTC volunteer staff; ESSI volunteers; and the Host Families for the ESSI Volunteers.
