PLEASE JOIN FAMILY, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS AT THE OFFICIAL DEDICATION OF THE NEW LINDSEY BROWN TODDLER PLAYGROUND AT TIETZE PARK ON SATURDAY, APRIL 14, 2:30-4:00 PM. THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT IS SCHEDULED TO BE DELIVERED AND INSTALLED AT THE PARK NEXT WEEK! ON SATURDAY THE 14TH, WE WILL HAVE REFRESHMENTS AND TREATS, GAMES, FACE PAINTING FOR THE KIDS AND SOME SPECIAL GUESTS TO INAUGURATE THE NEW PLAYGROUND.

SEE YOU THERE!

As many of you know, Lower Greenville neighborhood resident and friend Lindsey Brown (5900 block of Vanderbilt), passed away, suddenly and tragically, from a brain aneurysm, on April 14 - the day her son, Hudson, was born. Lindsey loved Tietze Park, and her family asked that donations in her name be sent to the Friends of Tietze Park Foundation. The Foundation worked with the Dallas Parks & Recreation Department (DPARD), and the Brown family, to establish a suitable project at the park to honor her memory. The Department agreed to establish a toddler playground in her name at the park, if were able to raise half of the cost – or $13,500, by July 31.

Lindsey’s family, friends and neighbors contributed over $20,000! Meanwhile, the Parks and Recreation Dept. negotiated the playground price down to $22,000. The Friends of Tietze Park Foundation delivered a check for $11,000 to the city on September 11.
We are especially pleased that the playground will be ready on Hudson's first birthday!

The additional funds collected (in excess of the 50% goal), will be used for amenities such as benches and landscaping around the playground.

In October of 2006, the Friends of Tietze Park Foundation was awarded a $10,000 grant from the RGK Foundation of Austin, Texas. The award will allow us to fund a shade structure for benches to be installed south of the new playground (estimated budget is $20,000), with construction planned for late 2007.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PROJECT!
