S.N.A.P. Statistics Did You Know? 2 dogs can produce 67,000 puppies in 6 years. 2 cats can produce 420,000 kittens in 7 years. S.N.A.P. Local Statistics In 8 years that S.N.A.P. has been in existence, it has assisted 5,564 pet owners to spay or neuter 11,483 pets. Dogs neutered = 912 Dogs spayed = 1318 Total dogs = 2228 Indoor Cats neutered = 303 Indoor Cats spayed = 356 Outdoor Cats neutered = 1096 Outdoor Cats spayed = 1547 Total cats = 9253 The trend of pregnant dogs and litters of puppies relinquished to the local shelter is showing a downward trend . The Outside/Barn Cat & Kitten Spay Neuter Program, after three years of operation, has resulted in the reduction of kittens relinquished at the local shelter. During the annual kitten count the typical number of kittens brought to the shelter was 350. For the first time in October of 2001 the annual kitten count dropped to 242. In 2002 the count was 250 and in 2003 227 continuing the downward trend! It sometimes takes thousands of spays and neuters to make a noticeable reduction in the number of animals that end up in shelters.
