Riverside Resident

I have lived in Riverside for over 14 years. I love being a part of this historic district. The sense of village life and community is very special. I am a member of RAP(Riverside Avondale Preservation) and RADO (Riverside Avondale Development Organization; i am also a member of CPAC #5 (Citizen Planning Advisory Committee for Northwest area). I am excited by the latest efforts in Jacksonville to involve more citizens to get them to give ideas and get their involement. I support these efforts and want to encourage more people to join as a way to safeguard and improve their neighborhood. I keep very busy, but I also have long held interest in photography and video recording. I enjoy traveling both in the United States and to foreign countries. I want to travel even more. I have been to Hawaii, England, Key West and Canada, as well as, Bermuda and Colorado.

My Family

When I arrived in Jacksonville over twenty years ago, I had my daughter and my son with me, and not much more. My girl is now a grown woman with two children of her own and they all live in New York city. My son is also grown and lives with me - he is very supportive. I am proud of the way both of them have matured. Both of my grandchildren have been models, each appearing in a national magazine; and both are very bright - a tribute to my daughter. I am lucky to have very good friends here, close enough to be sisters, and that was a major reason for helping me adjust to the culture that existed in Jacksonville. I am happy to say, Jax has become much more cosmopolitan and global in their outlook; I hope that it will continue to improve; especially in the acceptance of cultural diversity.

Village Life/Riverside Avondale

I want to make more time to enjoy the nice restaurants and the antique stores that we have in Riverside and Avondale. I want to get my bike back on the road and walk more in what has to be one of the best neighborhood in the southeast U.S.
