Tony and Judy

Hi, we are Tony and Judy Addonizio and we have owned our home in the NCTONA area since 1979 when we bought into this subdivision when new. We lived here for five years before moving on military reassignment, and then returning and moving back into our home in 1989.

I (Tony) grew up in Staten Island, New York, with a younger sister and brother, and went to Public School 46 and New Dorp High School. In 1960 I went off to college at the University of Arizona at Tucson, Arizona, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with a major in Government and a minor in History. In 1966 I enlisted in the Army and opted for the Officer Candidate School (OCS). After Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman at Ft. Dix, NJ, I spent six months surviving OCS, was an outstanding graduate, and was commissioned in July 1967 as a Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps (personnel and administration).

Over the next 21 years, I rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, attended several career advancing courses at Ft. Ben Harrison, Indianapolis, IN, as well as the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Stateside assignments included Ft. Wolters, TX, Ft. Benning, GA, The Pentagon and the Military Personnel Center, Alexandria, VA, Ft. Sam Houston, TX, and Presidio of San Francisco, CA. Overseas assignments included one year in Korea with the 7th Infantry Division, and three years in Germany with Central Army Group, a division of SHAPE Headquarters.

Judy grew up in Phenix City, AL and went to Phenix City Elementary and Central High School. She briefly attended the University of Alabama. Judy has a younger sister and brother. We met while I was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA, and we were married in 1975 in Indianapolis, IN. Judy is actively engaged in the American Sewing Guild, and enjoys the activities connected with sewing and embroidering. She is also a voracious reader of non-fiction novels, especially murder mysteries. Unfortunately, we do not have any children.

Judy and I travel about five to six months a year, a month or so at a time. Most of the travelling that we do is to visit/assist family members who just happen to live on opposite sides of the continent. Additionally, we own rental property in Columbus, GA, and Springfield, VA, that require periodic, yearly maintenance and, sometimes, major renovation. We hope to start making some trips for pleasure only in the near future.

Computers R'Us

We love to spend time on the computer and the Internet. I belong to the Alamo PC Club and spend time on the computer watching and making investments, working on the NCTONA Newsletter, and the NCTONA Web Site. I usually handle the hardware end of a computer (I can open it up and plug in cards, drives, memory, etc.) and Judy is the software and trouble-shooting guru. Judy spends a great deal of time working with her computerized sewing machines, embroidering as well as sewing articles of clothing, especially for her two young female cousins. When we can, we like to bowl, and maybe if things slow down someday, we may even get back to playing some golf.

Support for NCTONA

We have been NCTONA members since the inception of the association in May 1994. I have been very active in the association ever since. My first year I was on the Beautification Committee and then became its chairman for the following four years. I have been the Newsletter Editor of our five- time award-winning newsletter for the last six years. I have also helped the Communications, Membership, Welcoming, and Safety Committees when needed. Additionally, I have been the Block Captain for my street for the last seven years and have had the only block with 100 percent NCTONA membership for three years. About three years ago I took the SAPD sponsored Cellular On Patrol class and have been actively engaged in patrolling ever since. Just recently I have also taken on the additional duties of Web Site Coordinator. I have also helped several elderly neighbors on my block on an ongoing basis over the last ten years.

Both of us wish that more people would volunteer to assist NCTONA with its mission of maintaining and protecting our neighborhood. It is all for the greater good.
