Kevin Jacobs teaches financial management classes for engaged couples through the Catholic Diocese of Memphis’ marriage preparation program. He teaches these classes 1-2 times a month for young couples. “I just really like helping people. In today’s world marriage can be difficult enough for young couples, even without financial pressures. So if I can help them work toward a realistic and manageable financial environment for their marriage, then I get a lot satisfaction out of that.”

Jacobs, who is a financial advisor with Shoemaker Financial in Germantown, has received his Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from Christian Brothers University. The one-year program is designed to prepare a financial advisor to sit for the National CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) Exam. “I plan to sit for the CFP exam in March. That’s the first available opportunity.” said Jacobs. Before financial planning as a career-changer, Jacobs used to be a youth minister at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Cordova. He has a Masters in Theological Studies from Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida.

Jacobs and his wife, Donella, live in East Memphis, where they attend Holy Rosary Church. Donella is a registered nurse with St. Jude Hospital, where she has been for 6-1/2 years. They have two children, Aidan (2-1/2 yrs) and Andrew (1 yr).
