John and Johanna Schweers built the seventh house in the neighborhood in 1996 on Glastonbury Drive. In 1997, we joined with several other neighbors and hosted the very first meeting of what is now the Hickory Creek Civic Club.

Some of our accomplishments include the posting of a ''Slow, Children at Play'' sign and a speed limit sign at the entrance to our neighborhood; the addition of this website; ''Yard of the Month'' awards; neighborhood newsletters, and block parties. Stay tuned for more exciting functions and additions as our neighborhood grows!

We chose this neighborhood because they DIDN'T have mandatory, outrageous homeowner's fees, and we're serious about keeping it that way. Membership is comletely optional at this point, but membership has its rewards! It's fun to meet your neighbors and get to know them. They'll become lifelong friends. Meeting dates are posted; please plan to attend. We're not a clique-ish group; we look forward to meeting you and getting to know you. That's important for neighborhood safety and peace of mind. That's what neighbors are for!

The Schweers Family Grows!

We had our first child in 1998, and another in 2000. We loved the neighbors and the subdivision, but it was time to move on, so we did. We had another home built...one street over from our first! We thankfully survived the historic flood of June 2001, We could see the water in the creek from our living room, when normally, we'd have to go out the back gate, climb a small hill, and look way down into the creekbed. Although the streets were filled with water, neighbors banded together to check out the flood status throughout the night of the floods.
