I live in a small neighborhood outside Chapin, SC.

Our neighborhood is located on Lake Murry. We do not all have waterfront lots, but we have a Park that is maintained by a corporation of neighbors.It is "Lakewood Property Owners Corp." Everyone in the neighborhood is invited to join the corporation on a yearly basis. Usually the first Saturday of June around noon, in the park. There is a yearly "dues" to help with expenses of the park, which includes taxes, electric, and repairs.
