About our family

Hello my name is Patty, and I am the 4th generation of my family to live in this neighborhood. It started with my Great Grandfather & Grandmother Oscar & Ida May (McKinney) Medaris Who both lived on South Addison & Oscar working at Link-Belt. Then my Grandfather & Grandfather David & Pauline (Medaris) Bundy, They also lived on South Addison Street, Pauline also worked at Link-Belt.
Then my Father and Mother, Robert & Dorothy (Bundy) Smith. They lived on South Addison Street. Dorothy also worked at Link-belt and Robert was with the Marion County Sheriff Department. I grew up on Addison Street.

Didn't move far away.

In 1977 I moved on Jackson Street, where I have lived ever since. I met my now husband Boyd and we have been together ever since 1979. We have two daughters Shana and Nola. We have five grandchildren. Our Grandchildren our the six generation to live right here in the We Care area.
Boyd is the third generation of his family to live in this neighborhood. His Father and Grandfather were also named Boyd. They lived on Harris Street. His parents later moved to Addison Street.

Neighborhood Changes!

After living here for 50 years I have seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood. There has been a lot of good and a lot of bad. I have been a member of the Neighborhood Association for 3 years now. I think the Association has been very good for our Neighborhood. Working together and making a cleaner and safer place for our future generation. I have met a lot of good hardworking people in the last three years. I am pround to say that I am a member of the We Care Association!
Boyd and I both want to give back to the community. If you have never been to a meeting or help out in any way, I save try it just once. It's a good feeling.
