It seems that the City of Norman is continuing to march on street repairs in Castlerock. Haveing finished Wood Castle and Knights Bridge, they have moved on to Nicole Circle. Hopefully this will continue throughout the summer until all of our streets are finished. We recently completed repairing/replacing the really bad railroad ties which form the retaining wall around the big lake. This repair should get us through another year or two until we finalize plans for any future plans for upgrading the retaining wall. The pool has been repaired, the pool house roof/skylights replaced and the water is warming up for a Memorial Day opening!! We have a new key system for the pool area which will allow us to activate/deactivate keys remotely. We also may offer WiFi in the pool area!! We have changed our provider for algae control services in both lakes and the first treatment was done today. The large lake is in pretty good shape, but the small lake will take a few weeks to get into proper balance. It is a shallower lake and presents more problems. There should be noticeable improvements in that lake and things will continue to improve over time. We are working on getting the landscaping up to snuff in the area of the small lake and hopefully, you will notice improvements there soon. We are also improving our irrigation system by replacing faulty sprinkler heads and replacing the rain sensors. This will conserve water and reduce our bills. Finally, we will be installling a drain in the NW sidewalk at Tecumseh and Castlerock. This area tends to pool water, creating an ice hazard in the winter and a mess in the summer. By draining the water into the street, these problems will be eliminated. Thank you to all the residents who have alerted us to issues in the neighborhood! We can't all be everywhere all the time, so we rely on our residents to tell us if things aren't perfect.
