I noticed yesterday a very small red and white sign in the parking lot of the vacant Minyards saying that the property is up for a zoning change.  Does anyone know what is possibly being changed?  I am assuming it is zoned for retail now, what else could be going in there??

Answer from Councilman Rick Williams:  "QuikTrip wants to build a store on the corner and demolish the old Minyards Store so that a smaller store can be built.  There is very little chance a tenant can be found for the existing 55,000 sq ft Minyards store. QT has recently withdrawn their request with the city while they work on the project.  Finding another tenant in these economic times is difficult, but some progress has recently been made."

Well something needs to happen on that corner, it is a bit of an eye sore these days without the gas station, Minyards, Tuesday Morning and the hardware store.  I was fearful they were zoning it for an apartment complex.
