Fire Response

Does anyone know the status of the former Claymont Volunteer Fire substation #31 on the corner of Naamans and Marsh Rds? Is this a functioning firehouse, a storage facility or just window dressing to make the surrounding community feel safer than they really are? On the day of the recent fire in Ballymeade, no apparatus response was made from this station. Why not? The substation is only a half mile away from Ballymeade and just a little over 1 mile away from your development of Wynnwood. The main Claymont station on Philadelphia Pike is much farther away ..... 3+ miles.

A new Claymont Fire station was recently built on the Philadelphia pike for over 5 million

dollars. Why is the substation just around the corner, for all intensive purposes closed?

Call the county executive of New Castle County and ask the question why.
