Speed Bumps
Is anyone else unhappy with the new speed bumps? I can't believe they are not like the ones in Coldstream. I have had to have my exhaust system fixed three times since moving here 3 years ago, and I feel sure it is due to the bumps. There is just no may to go over them without a jolt, it seems. If enough of us are unhappy, maybe we can get some action. Something like speed bumps should be done with a standard, don't you agree?

Speed bumps vs. humps

I do not recall going over the speed bumps in Coldstream, but I'm sure the council has received complaints about these.

I would have preferred a speed hump. However I understand we had a history of speeding and that they exist for safety. Without them young people (and adults) might be more at risk.

Googling the topic I found the following and the second question refers to speed humps. Of course some motorcycle enthusiasts (and cyclists) might actually use it as a ramp :)

I also realize that since the speed limit is 20mph, a speed hump would allow people to travel faster than that - hence the bump. My complaint is that they seem to be a bit high in a few places and I am in an SUV. There is no reason for you to 'bottom' out on a speed bump with a normal suspension. This as opposed to one teenager in a low-rider who attempted to cross over one on Lunenburg Dr... fun to watch.

On a related topic, I've been here since early 2001 and noticed a trend of young people walking in the street despite the presence of a sidewalk. I came close to striking someone once late at night (when they should have no business on the street anyway).

My SUV bottoms out on the bumps also and so does my Sedan they are too long and cause a problem, this needs to be fixed, don't worry about people speeding there is plenty of cops sitting around weekly to get the speeders. Cool

I have issues with these as well. I just moved in about 6 months ago, and my car has hit the bottom ALL the time.  I have a ford focus, with no modifications.  This is rediculous, and need to be addressed.  The ones in coldstream are fine, and I have never had an issue with those.  I dread leaving my house.
