Water ?– Too Precious to Waste

It would be best for all of us to be aware of fresh water expenditure. Water is most essential, and too precious to waste.
As promised in the last newsletter, we'll publish the amounts for the water
and sewer bills that the Association pays for homeowners, out of the monthly
condo fee. This is our largest operating expense, with a budget of $30,838.07
for this year. The latest bill was $12,805.80, and covered mid-May through
August. This was a decrease from the last 3-month period, but our expenses in
this line item, year-to-date, are still over budget by approximately $2500.

A reminder - call Barry when you see any indication of a broken underground pipe or
outside faucet, so that he can call a plumbing company to repair it as soon
as possible.

Here are a few ways to conserve water.
Indoors

1. Check all faucets, pipes, and toilets periodically for leaks
2. Take shorter showers or take a bath
3. Don?’t use the toilet as a wastebasket
4. Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth, shaving, etc.
5. Select proper water level for laundry
6. Don?’t let the water run when washing dishes
7. Fill your dishwasher
8. Defrost food in the refrigerator or the microwave

Outdoors

1. Do not let the water run when washing the car
2. Plant more drought resisting plants
3. Be reasonable when watering plants and shrubbery ?– do not leave running water unattended.
