January 2010 Minutes of Woodlawn Park City Council
The Woodlawn Park City Council met on January 18, 2010, at Woodlawn Park City Hall. Present were Mayor Tim Robertson, Attorney Matt Carey, Chief Jim Carter, Council Members, Scott Horn, Sherry Hyde, George Langford, Christian Seidt, Greg Claypool, and Doug Watson, Treasurer Charlie Veeneman and City Clerk Chana Elswick.
The meeting began at 7:30 pm.
Mayor Tim Robertson asked if any guests would like to approach the Council. There were no guests to approach the Council.
The council reviewed the minutes for the December 21, 2009 Council Meeting. George made a motion to accept the minutes. Greg seconded the motion. All voted aye and the minutes were approved.
Charlie Veeneman gave the Treasurer’s report. He stated the City is halfway through the year. There is $2,500.00 for the current year property taxes remaining due and will be close to the budgeted amount. There are 2 for prior years that owe $1,800.00 and have liens on them. Overall, things are on budget for the year. He has purchased a $125,000.00, 13 month CD at 2.25%. Charlie stated $7873.50, $9,326.81 and $332.34 had been collected from FEMA for the ice and Ike storms. Tim and Charlie discussed the KTC Westport mowing items in the report. Tim stated a letter needs to be sent to the State regarding Westport Road mowing for 2010. Greg asked if the Riney property had a lien, as there had been people working on the house. Bill Ritz stated it had been bought and was being rehabbed. Charlie stated 2009 taxes were paid, but 2008 had a lien. Doug made a motion to accept the report. Scott seconded the motion. All voted aye and the report was approved.
Tony Howard with Plautt and Associates gave the Auditor’s report for fiscal years 2008 and 2009. He reviewed the report with the Council. He gave a recap of activities and reviewed statements of assets and expenses. He discussed internal controls. He stated there are no problems with internal controls and compliance and it was a good report.
Chana Elswick gave the Clerk’s report. She stated she is working on the address list of Council members for the State. She is working on the list of past Mayors of the City. There has been no Census activity.
Chief Jim Carter gave the police report for December. There were 1 citation, 14 warnings, 4 house watches, 1 assist, 1 back up, 110 miscellaneous runs and expenses of $108.50. The review of the Police Manual is in progress. George asked about an armed robbery in St. Matthews. He said the robbery had occurred in the apartments on Washburn. Chief Carter was not aware of the problem.
Council Focus
Fences and Building Permits Doug Watson stated he had received a request for a permit for a pool at 6403 Orchid Hill Place. He had received the sketch and would email approval.
Emergency Preparedness George Langford stated he had received a second complaint about the drainage behind Stivers. MSD was to come back by January 14th. He asked about the street sign at Walser and Green Meadow Circle. Tim had taken it to City Hall.
Communication Sherry Hyde stated she had nothing to report. Tim stated a newsletter will be sent in April.
Public Relations Tim stated there will be a yard sale. Doug will check with Mike Brown for the date.
Streets and Signs Scott Horn stated there had not been a City Hall Improvement Committee meeting, Tim stated they are waiting on the front for Kevin Bailey to respond. Greg and Tim made a spreadsheet of signs in the City. Greg reviewed the City for the location of signs and possible additional signs. He stated Orchid Hill doesn’t need changed. He stated the signs should be finished when the road is done. Tim stated the City should be getting some money back from LG&E for the streetlights on Westport Road.
Grounds Greg Claypool talked to Tim about Eline Realty leaving out trash again,
Welcome Christian Seidt stated he had not welcomed 711 Stivers and 706 Ahland.

George asked if anyone had received calls about stop signs being down. No one had. Chris asked who the contact was for the construction company because the sidewalk had collapsed by City Hall. Sherry asked of there was any resolution to who cut the detention basin. A resident stated it was cut from the gate to the basin . Tim stated the City was not paying TLD to cut that area. Sherry asked if it was resolved about who has the key to the Church gate. Chief Carter and the Church each have one.
George made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Doug seconded the motion. All voted aye and the meeting was adjourned at 8:27pm.
