Several bicycles were stolen in the area by African Americans who were returning to White Plains Rd area after playing basketball in our local park. Removal of these basketball Hoops will decrease our daily crime substantially. If you see people with two bikes per person and it looks suspicious, please call the police immediately. Don't just let them walk away which is what many people did last week. Surely, they found it amusing.
The Leake and Watts girls Home on VanCortlandt Park East does not have full time supervision. The girls smoke marijuanna, have boys over throughout the night, scream and play loud music at all hours. They harrass the people who complain about them and nothing is done by Leake and Watts to correct this behaviour. Most recently the boys from the 233rd home along with the girls from van cortlandt pk home vandalized by putting graffitti (using racial slurs) outside of a neighboring home. This was because the family complained about a used tampon being thrown into their garden by one of the girls. This is supposed to be a home for troubled girls. It is used as an unsupervised party home and the city (Bloomberg) along with the main Leake and Watts office have been notified. Nothing gets done. If any ill behaviour is noted please contact June Reece 914 310-1721, or 732-744-1727. (she is an off site superviser). Maybe if enough people get after them something will eventually get done.
Rumour has it that a section 8 building is being opened in our area. It would not surprise me because the area is riddled with greedy slum lords who would do anything to make a dollar. If anyone has informtion, please share it as this must be stopped.
Two police officers mentioned that cars were noted to be casing houses along the parkway last week. A silver mercedes, a toyota carolla (white), and a minivan. (one or all had connecticut liscence plates). Hispanic men with tatoo's on their forearms were driving these vehicles.
