Transient Traffic Monitoring

Posted in: Woodlake Estates
monitoring and maint

i'm not sure we would really need to have the cameras monitored. just kind of an initial brainstorming idea - we could setup a secured server in the clubhouse, give viewing access to board members, or whoever was on neighborhood watch, and system maintenance should be pretty simple, i don't think it would require much time/effort. there would be an initial value in just being able to follow up from complaints or crimes, using it primarily as an investigative tool. many of the details will be determined by a needs assessment and comparing that to available resources. my suggestion is that, if we go this route, we be careful not to do anything that would be intrusive to privacy, and focus on ease of sustainability.

Feasible at a price

The 2k-3k estimation is in the ball park(closer to 3k based on security systems discussion at a Norman HOA meeting at Denny's a few months ago). This issue can be further looked into and discussed. At this time, the Norman Police have been extremely accomodating in bringing increased patrols to this neighborhood, and they are always appreciative of community involvement...eg. calling the police with reports of suspisious activity.

Please contact us to volunteer

The security ideas expressed here are good, and can only come together though discussion (annual meeting or other), volunteerism (time and research efforts) and feasibility of funding. Anonymity goes far here, but gets us no volunteers. We will follow-up given further support or efforts from the community. But please do keep in mind all participation here, whether anonymous or not, is appreciated. JT

Another arrest

Thank you for the pointer on the Norman Police Website. Yet another resident arrest this week. I tell ya, it isn't the outsiders, its US!
How far do you want to go with these cameras? Do we need one in each house?

I know this sounds a bit like I don't have a full deck of cards, but having been FALSELY accused of illegal activities, you
folks need to remember that people are innocent until their day in front of a judge. I never did like George Orwell's 1984 - perhaps he missed it by a few years.

Oh! The State of Oklahoma has a wonderful website - look up your neighbors for FUN!
