Not only am I disturbed by the Apartment residents parking in our subdivision, I am also upset that they are allowed to park along the street on Meadows Parkway. I have contacted the city before and the said that once a bike route went in on that road, then ''no parking'' signs would be put up. But no one could tell me when this was going to take place.

With school about to start up again, this is a big concern to me. With all the cars parked there, kids walking to school, buses stoping to pick up kids and extra traffic going to and from the schools, this area really gets congested in the mornings.

Other concerns parked cars, glass from broken windows, trash, vehicles that aren't moved til they are orange tagged, etc.

An even bigger concern to me, is the possiblity of a child stepping from between these cars and getting hit, Or the possibility of an abduction of a child.

By law, ample parking for residents is supposed to be required, so there should be no real reason that this parking is allowed. It is a shame that we buy into a nice neighborhood and have to put up with the apartment overflow and other concerns. I know it is not the fault of the occupants, but more so the city not putting much weight on what the homeowners of the neighborhood want and feel.

I would be more that willing to help with whatever it might take to get these two areas cleared of any parking.

I thought at one time the assocition was trying to do something about this, but I never heard the outcome. Please let me know if anyone has more recent information about this problem and if it can be resolved.

Thanks,

Apartment Parking Follow-up

When I first moved to WM back in 1994 I too attended the planning meetings discussing the options for the Berkshire Apts. And as yourself I heard the City say that a bike path would extend down Meadows Parkway thereby preventing any parking on this street, as well as discussions centering around wether there would be enough parking for all.

As a member of the WM Board, we drafted and sent a letter to the City asking for the removal of the parking along Meadows Parkway due to the following: Noise, Garbage, and illegal vehicles parking on the street.

The reply was that our City Engineer decided to allow parking along Meadows Parkway to aide the residents who move in and out of Berkshire Apts. and the Sheriff would patrol more frequently.

I know that several homeowners have complained to us about this issue (verbally). Unfortunately, there hasn't been a very organized effort from the residents who use the Meadows Parkway entrance to take to the City for a meaningful discussion.

We would welcome someone such as yourself and others to take pictures of the issues: safety and the like as we know from the dialogue we have had with the City and the Sheriff we will probably need to attack this from a safety issue or they will not give us the time of day.

If you are interested, and know of others who would represent the homeowners nearest Meadows Pkwy, please contact us and we can discuss at our next Board meeting.

Regards,

Greg
