Certainly everyone needs to be places at specified times - and who among us hasn't run late here and there - but please consider that there are children under 4 in this community.
In my other development parents with kids used the signs on the links below. They sure were/are eye catching and effective. The key is to put them out only when the kids are playing not leave them out all the time because they ''fade into to wooodwork'' so to speak.
Thanks - but I still worry about oblivious drivers - they might not notice the signs. Has anyone thought about speed bumps? I live on Rockmeade. Set aside for a moment my 3 and 6 year old sons - I simply don't allow them to play in our front yard or driveway anymore. The vehicles drive so fast down my street - I've seen joggers practically run down. Isn't there a speed limit? The nicer apartment complexes have speed bumps these days. This is a beautiful community - but as a lawyer I can see not only drivers but the Association being sued as well if anyone (child or adult) is injured by a speeder, since there are simple measures that the Association could take to alleviate the problem.
I have been trying for years to get something done with regard to the speeding in our neighborhood. Signs won't work. The police have come out to visit the problem but they do not come at the right times or stay long enough to see the big picture. I am sure that the police don't have the extra manpower to sit in our neighborhood fo any length of time. I dont think this is a police issue. I think it is a Ballymeade issue. The police need to be out there to keep us safe not do traffic duty in Ballymeade. Why can't we as a neighborhood do something? I am not sure of the proper channels and what it would entail. I would think that the board would address this problem. There are Many children at any given time playing on the playground. I fear that someone is going to get hurt. The cars (some with children in them) fly up the hill on Shrewsbury. We can not get a stop sign at that intersection. I was told by DelDOT that Stop signs are for traffic problems not speeding problems. They have come out and visited the intersection and reported that it does not warrant signage. What can we do!
