Newsletter

Posted in: Willoughby Station

I want to try to explain the changes to the newsletter. I ask that if you are going to reply to me, that out of respect you use your real name.

Several homeowners from our community have ask me and some of the board members if we could do something to the newsletter to make it a little more interesting to read and a little more upbeat. So in order to kept the cost down, it was recommended that the minutes be removed so that we could include other articles and information that way the cost of the newsletter would not increase. I want to asure you that it was not to hide anything from you or anyone else in the community. We are trying new things and have not set anything in stone as to what will be included in the newsletter.

As for the last newsletter, as I said in an early post, the two pages on the color sheets were included because the printer ran out of the pre-printed newsletter covers we usually use. As for the other 3 pages that have been questioned, I made the decision to make the page about the little girl a full page because I felt (like many others who have inquired about her) that it was an important cause. The page with the houses who won the decorating contest is part of the community and as the editor I felt that they deserved a full page.

Now, as for the new year story and the word search, I included them because we are trying to put new articles in the newsletter as requested by homeowners in this community.

I truly hope this will stop the negative post about the newsletter and the board.

I'm sorry you feel this way about the newsletter, but I ask that you be patient as we are trying new ideals as requested. I know we can't make everyone happy, but we are truly trying.

Newsletter

I commend anyone who puts time and effort on a volunteer basis into the writing of the newsletter. I would like to make a suggestion, since it is a neighborhood newsletter, that it includes what is happening in the neighborhood. Surely we have events or parties, or activites, or vandalism that needs coverage. I would like to think someone could report on the events of Willoughby Station, and I'm not talking about the minutes, although a summary by the president would be okay. Maybe all the ladies hosting parties could list them, or the bunko groups and card games, or anything that happens to be going on in the subdivision that neighbors are doing. I'm sure with a neighborhood of this size, something is happening apart from what the social committee does. Maybe someone could write on those devastating power surges that destroy our tvs, like the one this past Saturday. I think if there is a recipe posted, it should come from one of our homeowners' kitchen. Maybe block captains can tell us what is happening on their block, and I refuse to think that nothing, even in the winter, is happening. For instance, I know Nashville Gas was inspecting the location of the cut off valves and making them more accessible in the case of emergencies. To me, that's news. It affects all of us. I'm by no way criticizing because for one thing, it is done by volunteers, and I sure don't won't to do it. So, if the local neighborhood news can't be reported in it, then I will still support the volunteer effort.
Neighborhood News

I agree that the pictures of the winners of the decorating contest be pictured in the newsletter. After all, the newsletter pictures the winners of the yard of the month during the summer. I think the contest winners were indeed a local neighborhood happening.

That is just what we are working on. Neighborhood news and info. Thanks for your support and patients.
