Wildflower Habitat

December Newsflash

Dec 01, 2000

The grant application has been filed and we should know in approximately a month if we are going to be funded. The final budget was 1,775. We are going to be planting a section approximately 50X50yds in the lower basin at the southern end of the detention pond. This is a wetland area and we have selected a total of 13 different species to introduce. We will be meeting in Jan. to discuss the specifics of how these plants will interact. We could still use some input from people who would like to help in the process of mapping a planting plan.

Special thanks to:

Ivette Bledsoe for her knowledge about medicinal plants and her eagerness to share her passion for honoring plants.
Erin Wickliff for her help in identifying the weeds and a course of action to pursue before planting.
Ken and Susie Dennington for their willingness to be involved in the planning and implementation of the project.
Wayne and Judi Brown for lending their gardening experience and vision for the project.
