The Wild Turkey is one of the world's fastest birds flying short distances - at speeds up to 55 miles an hour and running up to 30 miles an hour!

The biggest turkey known to man weighed in at 86lbs!

Benjamin Franklin, who proposed the turkey as the official Unites States' bird, was dismayed when the bald eagle was chosen.

Last year, 45 million turkeys were eaten obn Thanksgiving Day! (total weight: 675 million lbs.)

The first meal eaten on the moon by Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin was a turkey dinner. Their foil food packets contained roasted turkey and all of the trimmings.

It's estimated that Turkeys have 3,500 feathers at maturity!
