CALL TO ORDER:
The April meeting of the Westhover of Taylortown Civic Association was called to order at 7:15 p.m. in the Bear Library by the president, Steve Antonio who welcomed and acknowledged the presence of community members. Councilman George Smiley and Representative Melanie Marshall were not able to attend due to previous commitments. Meeting minutes from January 2008 minutes were read and approved.
CORRESPONDENCE:
-Incoming:
1. Email from Rep Melanie Marshall with contact at DelDot for Street Light maintenance.
2. Email from Rep Melanie Marshall with response from DelDot regarding the New Town road crosswalk traffic signal. The traffic signal meets ADA requirements therefore no changes will be made.
3. Letter from Rep Melanie Marshall regarding Bike Lanes. Our community did not meet approval to add Bike Lanes after an Engineering Study. Steve Antonio will follow up on the response.
-Outgoing:
1. Contract for snow removal signed and mailed to Back Creek contracting LLC.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. Street Light Maintenance. Two street light outages were reported, one on Taylor Drive and one on Gershwin Drive. Steve Antonio will follow up with DelDot.
2. Dues ?“Thermometer?” is in progress. Update will be provided by Bill Byrd at the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Copies of the Financial and Fiscal Audit Reports were distributed and read by Steve Antonio.
2. Edna Byrd suggested we send the Community Dues notice for 2009 season in August 2008. The secretary, Terry Goodwin will create the dues notice and distribute in mid August.
3. Steve Antonio asked if anyone was interested in a Community Yard Sale. Nine of the fifteen attendees voted for a Yard Sale however, no one volunteered to chair the project. Edna Byrd suggested the Yard Sale announcement (with time and date) be included with the Dues Notice. If a committee is formed for the Yard Sale project we will include announcements with the dues notice. It was suggested that a notice be placed with the local newspaper and everyone could hold the sale in their driveways or use the side walk along Reubens Circle.
4. Doug Yoder suggested that a Yellow Line be put on Taylor Drive. Steve Antonio will follow up with Rep Melanie Marshall.
5. Concerns were brought up regarding the grass cutting responsibilities along Taylor Drive. Steve Antonio will follow up with the County.
6. Kathy Watson called DelDot to report that the street signs at Taylor and Gershwin were switched. John Buchanan at DelDot committed to ordering a new sign to correct the problem.
7. Doug Yoder requested a Crime Report for our community. Terry Goodwin will follow up with the county for a contact name.
HEAR FROM:
Councilman George Smiley and Representative Melanie Marshall were both in legislative meetings this month.

Adjournment: All matters having been concluded, the meeting adjourned at 8 p.m. The Executive Committee will meet at Doug Yoder?’s home on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 7 p.m. The next Civic Association meeting is scheduled at the Bear Library in October 2008.
