Waverly Farms Neighborhood Watch

First of all I want to welcome the new members to the neighborhood watch. It was a pleasure to see and meet you all and we are looking forward to seeing you once again.

Support is needed in putting the word neighbor back into the word neighborhood.
Hi Neighbors! Those of you who are in our watch area-may have already met us as we are giving out fliers about the watch program in Waverly Farms-Raleigh North Subdivisions or have seen me out walking Sophie and Wally and I stopped to say hi and talked to you about the neighborhood watch that has been started.
It was great to meet those of you, who we had the chance to talk to and I wish we could have talked to everyone because it is a big part of what the neighborhood watch program is all about-getting to know your neighbors. One neighbor talked about the remembrances of growing up. She related how everyone knew each other. Her parents and neighbors were always chatting with each other over the fence or across the street.
This is what we want. It is part of putting the word back into neighborhood. I can not speak it enough, be nosey and get to know your neighbors.

To report anything to the sheriff if you see anything suspcious or other wise, the non emergency number is: 379-7625.

Remember there is a curfew, weeknights it is 10pm and weekends it is 11pm.

Officer Brown from the Sheriff Dept that patrols this subdivision came and spoke to us. He told us a list of things.
?• 4 wheelers are not allowed on the road or the sidewalks. He said these kids on the 4 wheelers, if he can see them and catch them and they do not stop, and they keep running it is no different than a person in a vehicle running from the police and it will be treated as such.
safety issue
?• The same with dirt bikes-they are not allowed on the road or the sidewalks.
?• If they are going to go to the fields to ride, he said either put them in a truck or they will be pushed to the destinations.
?• Dogs constantly barking-that is a nonsense.
?• Tractor trailers are not allowed in the subdivisions-they can not be parked along side the streets-it makes it hard for the emergency vehicles to pass through easily and efficiently
?• Vehicles-should be parked in the driveways-all the way in, they shouldn?’t be hanging over the sidewalk blocking the side.
?• Mailboxes are not to be blocked, you will not get your mail
?• No load playing of music any time of day. There are some people that do sleep in the day for they work at night, have some respect for your neighbors, they deserve to have the same amount of peaceful sleep as those get at night. Please if you are having someone working on your house doing construction, new roof; please ask them to keep their music down at a respectable level. There could be someone near by trying to sleep for they work at night. I was out walking and I was a block away and heard someone?’s music and it was from someone repairing a roof.
?• Portable basketball nets are not allowed on public property, public property is the sidewalk and side of the road and street. They are to be located in the driveway. Not the edge of the driveways near the sidewalks. The basketball nets in the streets are interfering with the flow of traffic.
?• Keep our vehicle doors locked at all times, especially if they are parked along side the street. The kids are real good at walking by to see if a door is unlocked if it is, they will go for whatever they want. It is not really a break in if the doors are unlocked.
?• Keep your front yard free of brushes; it is a good hide out for prowlers.
?• Keep your outside lights on at night.
?• If someone is going to break into your home they usually do that at the back door. If you walk into your home and see things are not right or you feel something is wrong, back out the door and get in your car and drive away, call the sheriff. Do not go walking through the house to see if anything is missing, they can not lift any fingerprints other than your own.
?• Stop newspapers and mail if you are leaving out of town or ask a trusted neighbor to pick them up for you.
?• If you are out of town you can call the dispatch and they will be happy to send a patrol car out to check the area for you.-379-7625
?• As well as locking your vehicle at home, do so at church, the store and work. Take your laptops, cell phones and other electronics out of the vehicle.
?• Place valuables in the trunk before leaving home, not in a public place where others can watch you doing that.
?• Report any suspicious cruising or loitering in public or residential areas

Officer Brown could not stress the point enough to be nosey with your neighbors, get to them. Get a cell phone number if possible for the reason of if they are away somewhere and someone pulls up into their driveway and started to unload furniture or loading furniture. It is for the safety of the neighbors. There has been times where a truck has pulled up to someone?’s house and unloaded the house. That truck was not to be there unloading at all. No one had called the police because everyone thought the truck was supposed to be there. I have had one neighbor telling me this a long time ago. It had happened to them right after they had moved into their house.

I WANT TO STRESS THE POINT TO PLEASE KEEP THE GUTTERS IN FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE FREE OF DEBREE AND LEAVES, WHEN WE HAVE HEAVY RAIN, THAT CAUSES THE STREETS TO FLOOD AND THE STORMS DRAINS CAN NOT DO ITS JOB. SO PLEASE KEEP THE GUTTERS FREE OF DEBRE AND LEAVES and please bring your trash cans back to your house after they have been taken care of. Thank you
