SENIOR PROGRAMMING

Area residents 55 years or older are welcome to participate in the following activities:

** Twice Weekly Lunches and Programs: Seniors are invited to participate in this socialization opportunity that includes a full course nutritious meal. Lunches are $3 for members and $4 for non-members.

** Educational Programs: A variety of subjects and issues concerning seniors are presented throughout the year including medicare and health issues, safety in the home and on the street, social security information, Spanish Classes etc.

** RTD Senior Rides: Group bus trips to various events and destinations are scheduled throughout the year.

** Health Clinics: The Visiting Nurse Assoc. provides preventative non-evasive healthcare to seniors. A small fee is charged for services. Appointments are necessary for treatment. Seniors are also encouraged to attend the Center's 9Health Fair in early April of each year.


** Tax Assistance: Federal and state income tax free assistance is offered annually by members of AARP from January to April 15th.

** Exercise Classes: Floor and chair exercises are offered three times and week. These classes are conducted by a senior who understands the exercise needs of seniors.


** Support Groups: APHASIA support group meets weekly. This group supports people with stroke and head injuries and their care givers. The Rocky Mountain Stroke Association provides the group facilitator.

** Friendly Visitor and Respite/Renewal Program: Coordinator assigns trained volunteers to visit homebound individuals providing shopping, non-emergency medical transportation or just a friendly chat. The volunteers are also available to provide respite while caregivers have time for relaxation and renewal.

** Senior Spotlight: A newsletter provides monthly schedules of senior activities.

** Information & Referral: These services are available on a variety of subjects that include: senior housing options, government resources, helping hands for housing maintenance, and resources to help maintain independent living status.
