The Denver Dumb Friends League is offering a reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of persons involved in mutilation of my female Himalayan cat in the area of 400 S. Gaylord,3/21/99. The cat's body was found on 3/22/99 outside of our yard. Two similar cat mutilation cases have recently occurred in the same area. Please call the League, 303-696-4941, Ext. 340 with information; or reply at this web site. This case is also being investigated by the Denver Police Department. Thank you for your help.

Cats

I watched with great interest the news story on WB2 about the cat mutilations and am very saddened by them. Several times in the story they mentioned pet owners and their 'beloved' pets. That being said ... IF your pets are so beloved to YOU then KEEP THEM INDOORS WHERE THEY BELONG! Denver does have a leash law that also applies to CATS. I have had cats in my household since 1970 and have never let a cat outside without being on a leash ... PERIOD!
So, if you are truly the sincere pet owners that you portray to be, then keep them inside or only let them outside on a leash.

Our pets are always in our fenced yard or in the house. Our cat was taken from our yard.

Missing the Point

I am so very glad that you posted this information on our web site and am saddened and sickened by the act that occured. I don't agree with Jim that the issue is whether the pets are on or off the street, but rather the violence and sickness of the incident and any other ramifications it has for our neighborhood. I actually don't see many unleashed pets in our neighborhood either.
