Nov 2002 - Park People to Fucus on Tree Care & Maintenance

Nov 08, 2002

The Park People to Focus on Tree Care & Maintenance for 2003
With another dry winter predicted, and a city full of drought-stressed trees, The Park People will focus all of its attention and resources in 2003 on helping existing trees survive and thrive. The Park People is well known for its annual Denver Digs Trees street tree distribution and tree sale. More than 23,000 trees have been planted in the metro Denver area through this program since its inception. In the absence of the tree planting and sale, The Park People will provide information, education, outreach and community activities designed to help everyone care for our community?’s trees. One new program involves training citizens to become volunteer Community Foresters to look out for their neighborhood's trees. These volunteers will be equipped with tools and information for basic tree care to help other residents preserve the health of their community trees. For those interested in becoming a volunteer Community Forester, or other volunteer opportunities, call The Park People at 303-722-6262. Or email them at info@theparkpeople.org.
