Washington Park East Neighborhood Association

Grant Received

Feb 27, 2001

Historic Denver, Inc. has been awarded another State Historical Fund grant on behalf of Progress & Preservation Together (PPT). This award is for the second level of research--a necessary prerequisite to designation as an historic district. The research will be conducted this spring in the East Washington Park neighborhood. The follow-up grant allows for a more in-depth analysis of historically contributing structures. Each structure will be identified according to original and subsequent ownership, original architect and builder, architectural style, history of any additions, and other unique characteristics. The histories of our homes and community buildings will be revealed! Denver Parks and Recreation has also received funds within this grant to study Washington Park itself. The original landscape designs and park usage will be researched. The results of this portion of the grant will determine whether Denver Parks and Recreation pursues historic designation for Washington Park. Questions or comments? Call PPT at 303-733-6704; or go to www.neighborhoodlink.com/org/ppt
