Neighborhood Assoc. Meeting

Neighborhood Association meeting

I like the idea of having Warfleigh specific meetings, but would like to see these coordinated somewhat with the BRVA meetings. These meetings happen on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Art Center Auditorium. Broader discussion of public safety & neighborhood happenings dominate the meeting, but this should be of concern to Warfleigh residents anyway.

As a past director for the BRVA, I do understand that neighborhood priorities are sometimes overshadowed by merchant and zoning issues. So much so, that during my tenure, a new Broad Ripple organization (GBRCC) was formed to voice these concerns. I view this split of resources as more harmful than good for the community, and caution Warfleigh of the same fragmentation of power. The BRVA should be our outlet for issues regarding our neighborhood, and if it isn't, we should change it to be this way.

Elections are being held in November, and there has always been a lack of people who run for these positions. Especially, for people who would like to represent the neighborhoods -- rather than the merchants.

I'd like to see our concerned residents take up our issues to the BRVA to gain their resources in helping us accomplish our goals.

Additional info. for meetings

Hi, Doug.

Thank you very much for your information.

Just to let you know, I, personally, have recently taken an interest in BRVA. A couple of years ago, I attended GBRCC meetings. (For those who are reading this, individual BRVA membership is $35; family is $50?)
The GBRCC also has a membership fee.

I will include these membership forms in the neighborhood directory.

I hope more Warfleigh residents will take an interest in joining/participating in BRVA.

I also want to encourage Warfleigh residents to take an interest in getting our neighborhood association re-established. I still think that separate meetings might be necessary/helpful until the association has officers and is more ''active.''

I look forward to attending the BRVA meetings.

Thank you, again, for the info. and your input.

College Ave. work

Per an email from Rachel Buckmaster (4/03/07):
Some work will be going on College Avenue near you; this spring we will finish the resurfacing project that was started last fall, and here is info regarding traffic restrictions due to upcoming bridge work:

There will be two lanes restricted on North College Avenue from 6600-7000N for bridge joint repair. Work will first begin in the northbound lanes (closing all northbound lanes) shifting traffic to the south bound lanes. Crossovers will occur at existing intersections; however, portions of median will be removed to allow for additional room. The restrictions will be in place from April 11th through May 15th, 2007.
