John Anderson -Manager of Talbot House- is Recognized

Apr 11, 2002

On Tuesday, April 9, 2002, Alderman George Unseld recognized John Anderson of Talbot House with a Proclamation from the City of Louisville for his outstanding efforts in community service. Rhonda Williams delivered the following speech in support of John Anderson at the Aldermanic Board Meeting.

In the years I have been Chair of the West St. Catherine Neighborhood Association, there has been one house on our block I have known I could count on, day in and day out and season by season.

John Anderson has been the best of neighbors, and under his direction, Talbot House has been a source of enthusiastic contribution to our sense of community. The men at this house have been tireless and cheerful workers at every scheduled cleanup in the neighborhood; encouraged and almost always guided by John, they have pitched in as well as (and sometimes even better than) our permanent residents.

John has backed us on larger issues as well, lending his support to helping maintain our period lighting and to neighborhood-wide endeavors in Old Louisville. He is tough, hard-working, and always thoughtful and amiable. In short, his ready kindness and cooperation extends not only to the men under his roof, but the residents of our street and to the city at large. Quietly, he has set about becoming a pillar of the community in the most important way one can be a ?“pillar?”: supporting much more than one?’s self, and doing so unobtrusively and gracefully.

Thanks, John, from your grateful neighbors, from the Aldermanic Board and from the city at large.
