I just wanted to say "kudos" to you for handling your situation the way you have.  While it may not be ideal for your family, you seem to understand the issue at hand and have no problem resolving it.  It is a nice thing to see.  I am glad we are a part of the same neighborhood!

Hi folks,

we just dropped our son off at college and in the hubub over moving we have misplaced keys to his car that has been parked on the street for about a week.  He can't find his set and we're concerned about how much time we have to either get another key or give him more time to locate his key.  Anyone have any ideas on what the city ordinance is regarding the timelimit for parking in one spot on a residential street?

My reply might be coming too late, but I wanted to comment that if none of your direct neighbors complain about the car parked on the street, I don't think the code officer will notice. ?? Cars are parked on the street around here for weeks at a time and I don't think anyone is ever warned or fined.

I understand this is correct - no change in behavior is needed until Code Compliance puts a sticker on the window or a note on your front door. Depending on the violation, a citizen may have 24 hours or 30 days to "fix" the concern.

Keep in mind that Code Compliance is about educating citizens on ordinances. There job is to maintain city codes, many of which have to do with public safety and public right of access.
