Burglary on December 29, 2007
Hello All,
I wanted to let you know that our home was burglarized on Friday, December 29th between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The entry and exit point was a dog door in our backyard to our back-most living room. The intruders took small electronics, including a laptop, Ipods, gaming systems, a digital camera, some games, DVDs, and software; also jewelry, cologne, petty cash, and....candles.
The weekend of the 15th of December, two young African-American boys came to our house and asked if they could do some work for Christmas money. I put them to work raking leaves in our yard. The older boy had a light caramel complexion with some golden highlights, and I estimate his age to be around 13 or 14 years of age. The younger boy, was darker complected, and I estimate his age to be approximately 10 to 12 years of age.
The body language projected by the older one caught my attention. He seemed to be straining to look into our front window, and during the course of the job, would not ring the doorbell or knock immediately upon approaching the front door. Also, I spent most of the time they while they were there in the back yard, and noticed that there were several minutes (about 5-7) where they would stop raking for a while.
On Christmas Eve, the older of the two boys, plus three larger and older African-American males (16 or 17 years of age) approached me while I was collecting mail and asked me, again if they could do some work for me for money. I told them that I wasn't going to worry about the yard until next spring, but to come back then and I could provide them with some work.
Because of the items that were taken and the size of the dog door they came through, I suspect that the aforementioned kids may have been the intruders. Believe me, it really made a bummer of an ending to an otherwise happy Christmas season.
Anyway, please be wary, and if you are approached by these kids, you might want to be extra careful about securing your home.
Thanks,
Hill McCoy on Valerie Court
