URGENT Proposed gov-subsidized low-income multi-family compex in Sugar Land

Posted in: Village of Oak Lake

There has been an application filed by a developer to build a government subsidized, multi-family low-income complex on Old Richmond Rd. The piece of land is surrounded by Village of Oak Lake and would be zoned to all of the same schools.

Here is the information on the proposed development:

Goldshire Townhomes, 16827 Old Richmond Rd, Sugar Land, (File #09166)

There is a sign at the location on Old Richmond Rd announcing the details.

The state will be having a public hearing on Monday, April 13th at 6pm at the Houston City Hall annex, 900 Bagby in downtown Houston. If this development is of concern to you (which it shoud be), please make plans to attend this meeting. This meeting will be your best chance to have your voice heard. We have a lovely community here, and would like to keep it that way.

The developer is Goldshire Development LLC / Goldshire Townhoms. The contact is Navidip Sobti. It appears he has tried to develop this complex in other areas of Houston, but was unable to for whatever reason, and encountered great protest from the surrounding subdivisions.

If such a development were allowed to happen, we would likely see huge amounts of traffic, increased crime, overcrowded schools with a lowered quality, falling property values, decreased quality of life for residents. It would have the potential to start ruin of the entire area. This is why it is most urgent that you share your concerns and spread the word.

Here is another link to complain, though I called the state and was told attending the hearing was still the best way to have your voice heard.
