The Village Voice October 2001

Oct 15, 2001

Hello Villagers,
It has been hard to concentrate on anything since the September 11 Terrorist Attack on
the USA. The victims and families are in our minds and on our hearts. This attack has
been felt by more people than any in the History of the USA. We all appreciate the
number of US flags that have been displayed during this time of mourning and preparation
for a response. Fortunately, the response will be slow, thoughtful, and well planned, with
most of the world in support of our cause.

Correction! In the last newsletter, I welcomed I.J. and Dolly J. Patterson and listed their
phone number wrong. It should be 850-5934. Please change it in your directory right
now. Forgive me, I.J. & Dolly, that is my first mistake this year.

We welcome Bill and Martha Gardiner to the neighborhood at 1734 Gosnold Bluff Road.
Please add them to your directory with phone # 901/853-5273.

We have enjoyed several special events in the Club House since the last report:

July 4th Social
Termite Protection Seminar
Wine Tasting Social
Neighborhood Watch Social
Labor Day Social

We encourage everyone to attend as many of these as you can. You miss a great
opportunity to meet and know your neighbors if you miss any of these planned events.
Plans are underway for our Christmas Gala. Information will be out soon. Watch for it!

You may have noticed the construction along Village Ridge Place the past couple of
weeks. Logan Construction Co. is correcting drainage problems on several lots in phase 3,
built by Pulte. This work should be complete soon.

The fountain in the back lake is working well now. We hope to up-date the fountain in the
front lake soon to make it run much smoother and with less noise.

The Landscape Committee has purchased several trees and shrubs that were planted in the common areas last week.

As you all know, the lights over our garages contribute greatly to the overall lighting of our neighborhood. We need a volunteer to help replace those lights for those who can't. We now have a community extension pole for changing lights in the high ceilings of many units. It will be available for anyone to check out temporarily from the Club House to help in this job. You may call Wing Wingfield at 853-2384 or Margaret Cutsinger at 854-3902 to check out the extension pole. Please return it promptly so it will be available for the next neighbor to use.

The Finance & Budget Committee has been working diligently on the 2002 Budget. Right now it looks like we will acchieve the goal of maintaining our current assessment so long as we do not have any large unforeseen expenses. We cannot emphasize enough the need to build a reserve for large future expenses we will be responsible for as a private neighborhood. A detailed account of the 2002 budget will be available soon. Alternate payment schedules are being considered. Billing for the 2002 assessment will be done in December or early January. We will encourage all who can to pay annually by late January.

Find attached income statement for the 3 quarters through September 30, 2001.

We have received a nice thank you note from George Goehring for the memorial we sent to the Collierville Animal Shelter in memory of Janet. Our hearts go out to George in his loss. We will all miss Janet.
