On the November ballot there is a renewal levy for Valleyview. This is not a new tax, it is a renewal of an existing one.

The millage on the renewal levy has been reduced from 7 mils to 5 mils. This means that there will be a slight decrease in your property taxes. Not a large decrease because of the recent increase in the value of everyone's property by the county.

The renewal levy is an operating levy. The money goes to the general fund and is used for the every day expenses of the Village. The money can be used for an expense of the Village and is not directed towards a specific area such as the fire and police levies. A portion of the money will be used to pay for the expenses for the police department.

Again, this is not a new tax, but you will be voting to renew the existing tax. There will be a slight decrease in your tax bills when the levy is renewed. If the levy does not pass there will be a large decrease in your tax bill, but the Village will have to begin cutting services to offset the lost income. This could mean cuts in police coverage, things in the park going unrepaired, or Village Hall being closed more than it is all ready.
Why?

Why is the Village Hall closed to the residents?

Closed To Everyone

It is closed because no one is there. The hours at the Village Hall for the general public to pay fines, inquire about what is going on in the Village or to make a records request are limited.

Not since Suzy worked at the Village Hall has it been open for 40 hours a week. I believe that currently someone is available at the Village Hall 20 hours a week. That is what the Village's budget allows. If the levy does not pass I would guess that the Mayor's Court Clerk's hours would have to be cut which would reduce the hours available to the general public, including residents, to visit the Village Hall.

The Village Hall is closed to residents as it has always been in the past. Nothing new here, the residents can be at the Village Hall when someone is there. No one can be there if no one is there. Does that make sense Ms. White?
Suggestion

Why don't you pass resolutions that everyone is paid hourly for the time spent at the Hall?

Bond the council members and devide the 40 hours.

You are violating the O.R.C. by not having someome there for the residents.
