Village Of Valleyview

EIGHT-YEAR LEARNING CURVE?

Jan 05, 2003

Also In the October 27, 2002 mayoral newsletter to the residents of Valleyview, mayor Graves stated, ?“There is always a learning curve when you start a new job and things don?’t get corrected overnight.?” Raylene Graves went on to say ?“ There are a couple of people (Raylene Graves and Sue Huber) that held seats on the Council in the past and they didn?’t have a very good role model. These people (Raylene Graves and Sue Huber) need to break the bad habits and ways of the old leader (Michael Russolillo) and start over again. We are not professional politicians.?”

Role model? Bad Habits? Not professionals? mayor Raylene Graves has been on Council since 1994, which she and Sue Huber spent most of her time criticizing Mayor Michael Russolillo and making excuses why she never had her assigned work completed. Raylene Graves apparently believes she is a good role model, stealing from the Village, not paying property taxes, not bringing in new revenue to the Village, having the residents of Valleyview pay her personal debt of over $2,000, her needlessly spending tens of thousands dollars residents money for a personal vendetta against Chief Consolo and the endless list goes on. That is a role model?

Learning curve? mayor Graves has been in public office for eight and half years, do we have to wait another eight and half years? Not professional politicians? mayor Graves receives $ 12,000 per year form Valleyview residents to lead this Village, if she is not a professional why are we paying her $ 12,000 per year? Council members get paid for meetings, if not professionals why are we paying them? If a person is paid the do to a particular job are they not considered a professional? Especially after eight years. The mayor and Council members have a responsibility to the residents of Valleyview to learn their job as quick as possible and do their job.

If mayor Graves believes she is not a professional and doesn?’t know her job maybe she should resign or at least reject her pay until she knows her job. When mayor Graves was a Council member in the Russolillo administration, she said the Mayor?’s pay was ?“too high?”. The former Mayor knew his job and did his job for $ 12,000 per year, what is Graves doing for her money?
