Chapman Appointed Acting Village Marshal

At the April 5th Village Council Meeting Sergeant John Chapman was appointed acting Village Marshal.

Under the Ohio Revised Code (ORC), a Village must appoint a Village Marshal and since the disbandment of the Police Department in August 2003 the Village has been without a Marshal. To be in compliance with the ORC and to have a peace officer oversee the operations of the Village Police Department, Mayor Watkins recommended that Sergeant Chapman be appointed acting Village Marshal.

The Council voted 5 to 1 to accept Sergeant Chapman as acting Village Marshal. Councilwoman White cast the lone descenting vote. Sergeant Chapman will serve as acting Village Marshal until a permanent Village Marshal is appointed.
