Village Of Valleyview

Bob Graves Pruning Service

Oct 07, 2002

Bob Graves has blamed the resident for his pruning work that he performed on the resident's shrubbery. He stated that the resident is responsible for maintaining the shrubs and because the resident did not he could do it because it is in the right-of-way. He is right, but Mr. Graves never contacted the resident before he butchered their shrubs to see if they would correct the problem.

Mr. Graves' handiwork caused the resident to contact their lawyer and write the village. They stated that they would have liked to have been notified and that at their own cost they would have maintained the shrubs.

So Bob acted in the best interest of the Village? By the picture you can see that the view of the stop sign is still obstructed. Mr. Graves did not fix the problem. Do not blame the resident for your poor work Bob. Contact the resident, give them a chance to fix the problem, then if they do not fix it then you can show the village your wonderful pruning skills. Is is that hard? Because of Mr. Graves poor handling of the matter the resident now has a shrub that is damaged and that will take some time to heal. The issue could have been handled in a friendly manner and it would have been done correctly, not the Graves way.

If you would like to view the work of Mr. Graves you can see the shrub at the corner of Elliott and the alley just west of Richardson Avenue. Also in the follow up story "More Bob Graves' Handiwork" you can see the damage done to the shrub. You can decide for yourself on the issue. Mr. Graves owes the resident a public apology.
