PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Mar 29, 2004

Since the early 1980?’s the Bell Village property at 17402 N. 19th Avenue has been in noncompliance (zoning violations and crime issues). In fact, in 2000 the then Councilman Phil Gordon, who is now the city of Phoenix Mayor, along with County Attorney Rick Romley were instrumental in having the property placed on the Slum Lord list of the 20 worst problem properties in Phoenix! Doesn?’t that just tell us something?
Because of your VMCCNA leaders through their unending hard work, time consuming efforts, continued support from you, fantastic partnerships with City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department, especially Zoning inspector Tony Kern, and our current Councilman Dave Seibert the ?“Horseshoe Property?” on 19th Avenue just South of Morningside drive is now cleared of all buildings!! What a wonderful sight after 6 1/2 years of efforts to see a cleared lot without blight and crime!
This has happened due to the deep dedication that you, the members of our community, have endorsed. We must now keep an eye out for what happens to this property next.
Thank you for your continuing support.
