City Council establishes Historic Zone Status for AinsTract

Planning Commission's Recommendation accepted.

On January 9, 2003, the Planning Commission decided wihout dissent to recommend the approval by the City Council of the proposed Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ)for the Gregory Ains Tract in Mar Vista. The designated area includes all lots fronting on both sides of Meier Street and Moore Street, and the east side of Beethoven Street, all between Palms Blvd. in the north and Marco Place in the south. About 50 Single Family residences are involved.

The purpose of a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) is to preserve and enhance structures and sites of historic, architectural, cultural or aesthetic significance.

Exterior modifications to any home in the designated area will in future require review and approval by a historic preservation board.
