Meet your neighbors--everyone is welcome! Monthly meeting is the 2nd Monday from 7-8 PM at the Air Force Village. This month we have a survey asking you how you feel about 3 issues in proposed City Council revision. Please fill out the survey at the bottom of this newsletter and return it to your block captain or a VHN Association Officer, or bring it to the meeting.

PLEASE VOTE: NSISD Bond election on $436 million construction bond proposal is at Valley Hi Elementary on Saturday February 7th. This is your last chance to vote on this!

ANNUAL DONATIONS: VHN is recognized by the City of San Antonio and our Constitution and bylaws are registered as a corporation with the State of Texas. We operate on donations. Your voluntary annual donation of $10 from each household in January or February pays for the monthly newsletters, stamped letters to officials, and few other expenses. Please send check or money order payable to Valley Hi Neighborhood Association to the treasurer, Shirley Smith, at 218 Threadneedle, or bring it to the meeting on February 9th.

VHN ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
At our February meeting, we will discuss proposed City Charter amendments you will be voting on in May. Time allotted 10-15 minutes. We also give candidates running for office 3 minutes "stomp" time at our meetings...SAFE Police Officer Greg Pryor is available Monday - Friday for free Home Inspection survey on the security of your home. Call and make an appointment. Contact 207-7484 or his cell 746-0812 and leave your phone number. There may be an insurance discount after you improve your home security. He attends our VHN meetings for your questions too.

FREE LANDFILL DISPOSAL DAY: February 7 - Take trash, lumber, brush, remodeling debris, furniture, appliances, mattresses, tires or other refuse to Covel Gardens Landfill at 8611 Covel Rd. off Ray Ellison or Pearsall Road. NO Hazardous waste!

CALL 311- to report City Code violators, ask for Animal Control, Public Works, Solid Waste, or City Government phone numbers.

CALL 211- for information on community services and volunteer opportunities: adult day care, meals on wheels, respite care, home health care, transportation needs and services, and more....

ALERT: Several large dogs have been seen roaming our area. If you are the owners, please keep your dogs confined. Otherwise, the dog catcher will be looking for them.

NEW VIA BUS STOP: at the corner of Ellison & Whitecliff will take you to the new state-of-the-art bus terminal on Hwy 90 or you can park your car there and ride.

STABLEWOOD FARMS COMMUNITY CENTER: is offering FREE Computer classes Wednesday and Thursday from 6-8 PM.
They also offer a GED Program, Senior Programs, Money Management Classes, a clothing and food pantry, Social Services, and a Child Care Center.

Please remember that since we have our garbage pick-up in the alley, we are responsible for keeping the alleys clean, mowed, and free of debris. Failure to do so, you may get a certified letter from the City of San Antonio, Code Compliance Office.
