Subject: Attempted sexual assaults

Hello,

I've been asked to alert my neighborhood contacts about a series of
disturbing events that occurred last night and early this morning. Denver
police and D.U. Campus Safety believe four events and possibly a fifth
involved the same individual.

1) At 7:30 p.m. a woman was followed at the Conoco station at Asbury and
Colorado. She was unharmed, but reported the event to the police.

2) At 7:50 p.m., a female D.U. student was followed into her house on the
1900 block of South Williams through the back door and an attempted sexual
assault was fought off. The attacker ran off.

3) At 8:10 p.m., another female was attacked on the 2300 block of High
Street. She suffered minor injuries, and fought off the attacker, who again
ran off.

4) At 9 p.m., a male matching the description of the same person who
attacked the other two women followed, then chased three sorority members
along Asbury and into the Coors Fitness Center at the Ritchie Center. No
physical contact occurred.

5) At 2:45 a.m., a sorority was broken into, the alarm sounded, the house
manager investigated and the suspect fled the house.

The D.U. campus is on alert, and we would like the neighborhood to be as
well. At this point, the suspect is at large and is considered dangerous.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned Caucasian or Hispanic male in his
early to mid 20s, between 5'10" and 6'0" tall with medium to heavy build and
short, brown hair. There is a composite photo that will be sent to you when
it is available electronically.

All members of the community should be alert and take common-sense
precautions for their protection. Here are some important tips that DU is
passing along to its community:

PLEASE, lock your doors. Women should avoid walking alone whenever possible.
If you must walk alone, plan your route, be aware of your surroundings and
avoid places where an attacker might hid. Have a cell phone handy if you
have one. Also, when you leave the house, let someone know where you're
headed and when you expect to reach your destination and return.

Safety alerts are being posted throughout the campus today, all residence
hall personnel and residents have been notified, all sorority and fraternity
leadership are aware of the situation. Appropriate precautions are being
taken for evening classes, and D.U. has its full campus safety staff on
alert.

When I receive more information, I will send it on to you. Please share
this with your neighbors and family members who live in the neighborhood.

Thank you,

Neil Krauss
