Summer Reading Programs at DPL

Come Join the Fun - for all ages

Following is information about the Denver Public Library's Summer Reading Programs which begin this weekend. Please review the information and share it with your membership. More the 200 programs are offered to Denver's youth throughout the summer. Perhaps someone in your neighborhood would be interested in joining us
this summer!

Denver Public Library's Summer Reading Programs for children and teens kicks-off Saturday, June 1. The 9-week program offers children and teens opportunities to earn prizes for reading during their summer vacation from school. All summer long, kids are
encouraged to visit the Library to take part in interactive programs designed to educate,
entertain and inform. Summer Reading Program registration ends July 27;
Saturday, August 3 is the final day of the 2002 program.

All Summer Reading Programs are free and open to the public. A library card and an interest in reading is all that's required to borrow from the Library's extensive collection of books, and much more! For program schedules, visit us on the web at www.summerofreading.org or call 720-865-1306.

Teens, Mark Your Calendars!

Teen Art Show / Art Contest Tuesday, June 4 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Come view artwork submitted by Denver-area teens during this evening get together at the Denver Central Library. Maria Garcia, Denver Art Museum, family program coordinator and Carla Hartman, master teacher, in the areas of architecture, design and graphic art, will judge the pieces on display. Up to 20 pieces will be selected from the show for inclusion in a month-long exhibition in the Library's Schlessman Hall (Level One) in December 2002.

This evening event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and Cody Hull's punk band, "Suburbia's Finest," will perform live. The program will be held at the Denver Central Library located at 10 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy. in the Training Room located on Level 7.
