University Park

TREX / RTD / PUBLIC WORKS

Feb 19, 2003

the beat goes on. You can see where the light rail will be, but remember it will have a lot of framework on top of the trains,
so will be quite tall. It will go over S. University and under Steele St. and Colo. Blvd. The station at High St. will be at grade, and at Colo. Center it will be in
the trench. Plans for all the stations are in the works, and meetings will be scheduled. Janice Finch, 720-865-3163, is the contact person for info on the
Colo. Center station concept.
As for BUCHTEL BLVD., you may have read that the City's Winter Park deal includes funds for the preservation of the historic Buchtel Blvd. Trail area.
Will this $250,000 buy and plant native grasses to make the site a true preserve of historic open space? Or? Stay tuned.
Those who have seen the City's plan to redo the S. Univ. / Buchtel intersection area note that historic Buchtel Blvd. trees would be removed on the north
side nearby for street widening. The Xeriscaped islands seem to be history, too, in more ways than one. They could be replaced by a similar area
immediately north of the Einfeldt Pump Station. The trees in the 1900 block S. Univ. also are under the street widening ax...the City Forester is opposing
this. And UP?
Come to the Feb. 5 meeting to give your input and get updates on all of this--- and More.
