TLS Meeting Notes January 15, 2008

Lights survey letter has been finalized and a request for the lighting proposal from the City of Oakland Park was requested to be sent out with the letters.

Twin Lakes South Lighting Overview
The Twin Lakes South Community west of NW 10th Avenue, east of NW 17th Ave., and South of Prospect Road consists of 301 single family homes. Existing FPL power supply is fed throughout backyard power poles and overhead lines with the revise drops to the rear of each property.

Only very limited number of private street lights currently exist in the community. An overlay of the area depicting the proposed sites of the street lights is attached.

Option 1-
Underground Service Lines- This option would require an assessment to each property owner for the up front capital cost of underground conduit installation and administrative assessment costs. The total estimated cost for underground installation of street lights would be approximately $415,000.00, divided by 301 units $1379.00 per unit. This amount would be assessed to each property owner for payment on their annual tax bill.

Option 2-

Overhead Service Lines- There would be no cost to the residents for this option. Overhead power lines would be run throughout the community along the right-of-way lines adjacent to the street. 44 concrete pole with street lights would be located throughout the community at the proposed locations noted on the attached overlay.

Options 3-

Overhead Service Lines from Backyards- There would be no cost to the residents for this option. Service lines for street lights would be run from the backyard power lines between two homes to the street to power street lights. This installation would be at no cost to the residents but still would require FPL aerial easements to be executed by two adjacent property owners where the lights are to be located.

Any alternative underground installation with reduction in street lights would still require the same capital cost to be paid by the residents due to the need to install approximately the same distance of underground service lines.

BSO UPDATES: Chief John Bukata

Crime in Twin Lakes South has gone down considerably. In the last 3 months there have been a decrease in crime in our neighborhood.
BSO has stressed the fact that everyone be aware of your surroundings. Always keep valuables out of sight. Especially in cars. There are professionals that hang around shopping malls, gyms, and parks to watch to see if potential victims take there wallets, purses, and phones with them when they get out of the car.
