Twin Lakes South
Neighborhood Meeting
May 20, 2008

Minutes

??¢ Welcome: T Surinak
??¢ Updates
o Planning and Zoning Board meeting on 5/12/08-J. Shank: Strong showing by TLS. Important for City to see that the residents are concerned and want to be involved in any decisions impacting them. Next step is for the Commission to approve the 5 proposed ordinances (driveways, pools, solid waste containers, landscaping, and sheds).
o Lights-T. Surinak: Requested addresses of 10 locations in TLS that do not require easements and description of most recent proposals from Dave Womacks. He emailed a map that was not in a downloadable format. Re-requested the information.
o Waste container enclosure behind 1040 W Prospect- T. Surinak: After inquiry, Dave Womacks said that the enclosure was improperly constructed and that the property owners are dealing with an insurance claim to have it reconstructed properly.
o TLS Lake-no lake residents available to report.
o Single-family, short-term rentals-T. Surinak: T. Surinak and Dan Smith attended Commission meeting and voiced opposition to the proposal. The Commission decided not to vote on the issue and it looks like it died on the table.
??¢ New business
o Summer recess?: Residents in attendance decided to recess for June and July, resuming in August. Emails to the TLS group will continue. If anyone has a neighbor who wants to be added to the email group, please have them email T. Surinak at tsurinak@hotmail.com.
o Hurricane Committee-T. Surinak: Two years ago, a Hurricane Committee was formed. Do we want to reconnect with those residents? Yes. T. Surinak will call the individuals to confirm interest/ participation.
o Street Captains? M. Delman: We had ??œstreet captains??? assigned to each street to solicit participation in TLS NO. The street captains became discouraged, because despite going door-to-door, their efforts yielded the same results. However, perhaps quarterly or before an important meeting, the street captains can contact the neighbors on their streets. T. Surinak will contact street captains to confirm interest/ participation. Anyone else who would like to serve as a street captain, please contact T. Surinak at (954) 258-5245.
o Mark LaFontaine: North Andrews Gardens resident who is running for District 92 in the August election attended the meeting. Residents were able to ask him questions and voice their concerns.
??¢ Propose agenda items for August
o Residents would like to host political candidates running for office in TLS districts at our future meetings to be able to make informed decisions when voting.
??¢ Open discussion
??¢ Adjourn: 8:16PM

Next meeting 7:00PM, Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Imani Church.
