Clothes Dryer Warning

By Frank Black, Treasurer

Does drying a load of clothes take over one hour? Before you call a repairman, check to assure your vent is clear.

The problem is especially problematic in the model house with the two single-car garages. The vent pipe is approximately 20 feet long. Over a period of five or six years, the lint build-up could clog a 10-foot vent pipe solid.

Ron, from All Area Appliance, explained that he has been on numerous repair calls in Town and Country because a dryer was not working, when it was nothing more than a clogged vent pipe.

The clogged, or partially clogged vent is costing you much more than necessary to dry a load of clothes. But more importantly, It has been the cause of expensive dryer repairs and at least two house fires in Town and Country.

After cleaning out your vent pipe, you might consider installing a vent trap that, when serviced with water, will prevent the lent from escaping to the vent pipe.

CAUTION: This vent box is to be used with electric dryers only. A gas dryer will put fumes into the house.
