Toonerville Trolley Neighborhood Association

19 November 2009 - Meeting NOTES

These are my notes for the TTNA meeting held on 19 November 2009 at Burger Boy. There were no official minutes kept.

  • The meeting (DiBlasi) opened about 7:05 pm. The meeting was attended by: Borsch, DiBlasi, Hemberger, Stewart, Brown, Jent, Driskell, Provencher, Spicer, Plotnick, Woodcock, Lisack, Gail Tucker, Rebecca Kessler and Ericka & Clinton Wolfe.
  • The Treasurer (Aaron Jent) reported that we have $2164.91 and no outstanding bills. The total amount was mailed for the Toonerville Park wall restoration on 27 July 2009.
  • A nominations committee was created (Jent, Driskell, Provencher and Stewart)
  • A motion was made to pay the dumping fee (because it was on the agenda) from the Fort George Cemetery clean-up, but the discussion revolved about whether Kevin Kouba wanted to donate to TTNA or not. DiBlasi discussed an e-mail from Kevin in which Kevin stated he wanted to donate the dump fee to the association and the motion failed.
  • A motion was made to donate $25 to the Central Park clean-up (that took place the same day as the Fort George Cemetery clean-up. After considerable discussion the motion passed, with one no vote.
  • A motion was made to pay of 2010 Old Louisville Neighborhood Association dues ($25.00). Since we pretty much have to pay them, we decided to do so.
  • The location of the Christmas/Holiday Party was decided to be at the Woodcock home. The association will pay for meat (Nancy's choice of ham or turkey or whatever) and incidentals. The planned date is 17 December 2009 at 7:00 pm. It will be a potluck so, please e-mail with your dish selection to Nancy so she can plan appropriately.
  • Some nice men came and gave a wonderful presentation on the tennis courts in Central Park. Presently, there are four courts, but they have proposed six. They are also proposing significant improvements (completely rebuilt - literally from below the ground up) to the courts, bringing them up to modern, competition standards. The proposal has been completely or very near approved by all the necessary groups and agencies (I was eating a Dan Borsch special chocolate cookie at this point and lost concentration). This is going to be a great improvement to Central Park and it is going to cost a great deal of money. They are asking for both association and individual financial support. Toonerville will discuss the matter at a future meeting.
  • Bessinger called DiBlasi and gave an update on the Toonerville Park Dog Park. They have raised about $5.000.00 and are going to be kicking off a "personalized brick sales" campaign. We are going to have to raise about $65,000.00 to fund the park.
  • There was a brief recess, while the nominations committee went outside to discuss nominations. They came back in and the meeting restarted. The nominations are:
    • President - Philip DiBlasi
    • Vice President - Rebecca Kessler
    • Treasurer - Aaron Jent
    • Secretary - Travis Provencher
  • There was some debate about more than one-year terms. The group was reminded that the by-laws were voted upon and changed and there are no term limits. It was also pointed out that the vice president automatically succeeding the president was not in the by-laws. We will be accepting nominations from the floor at the December meeting. The vote will be taken after all nominations are heard. Having received this, think about your nominations and bring them to the December meeting.
  • Joan Stewart reminded the group of several important upcoming dates:
    • 3 December - last two-way street public information meeting - to be held in Memorial Auditorium.
    • 14 December - non-conforming standards meeting course - at Old Louisville Information Center in Central Park (you have already received an e-mail with the details).
    • 22 December - Old Louisville Neighborhood Council Board elections.
  • Hearing that there was no additional new business - a motion was heard and seconded to end the meeting. A unanimous vote was heard around 8:10 pm.

  • We want to thank the Borsch Brothers for the wonderful cookies.
